Students are accepted onto the course on the condition that they have disclosed all health and learning issues that may affect their progress, their attendance and ability to work as part of a group.
Failure to do so may result in a student being required to leave their course.
Students will be given a health and safety briefing at the beginning of their course. They must abide by these instructions whilst within the building.
On multi-part courses, the student attending the first session is the only person permitted to attend the remaining sessions of the course.
All personal belongings must be kept safely in the lockers provided and we would advise against bringing anything of value into the school. The student is responsible for the security and safe-keeping of all personal possessions. Students are responsible for insuring their own personal possessions.
Alcohol should only be consumed on the premises during wine classes or organised school events. It should be drunk in moderation and no one under the age of 18 is permitted to drink alcohol. Anyone who is drunk on the school premises will be required to leave the premises.
Illegal drugs are not allowed on the premises. Anyone founds with drugs will be required to leave the premises.
Anyone conducting themselves in an unreasonable manner or who may be acting erratically that might lead the Leiths staff to believe they may be under the influence of alcohol and/drugs or whose actions may impact on the other students in class or in a demonstration will be required to leave the premises.
Smoking is not permitted in the building.
Mobile phones must be on a silent setting during all demonstrations and practical classes. They should not be used at all during class except in cases where students are awaiting important information. Should they need to be answered, students must leave the demonstration room quietly without disruption or the classroom only after telling their teacher that they are leaving to do so. Further, we advise that students take mobile phones into the kitchens at their own risk as there is risk of damage in the commercial kitchen environment.
No students are to go into the store room or beyond the cloakroom into the private part of the house.
