In many cases, the answer to this is yes however, you know your teenager best! I would always suggest supporting them through the first video and recipe before leaving them on their own. The videos are very clear to watch, and the recipes are simple to follow. I have found that SEND students who follow this course first are then able to do my other courses at a slightly faster pace, as they know how to be organised and use the videos.
Yes! I encourage the use of additional equipment such as food processors, food choppers, or any cooking aid that will keep fingers away from blades. I am passionate that these students should be able to cook with ease, and keeping safe is essential.
Of course, this is very common. If a swap is obvious, then just go ahead, but please feel free to contact me about any of the recipes that you may have concerns about and I can help you!
Yes absolutely! This is a very common situation and is often caused by fear of food poisoning. This course will help them overcome their fear and show them how to handle meat safely, understand how food poisoning occurs, and how to avoid it.
Yes, it may be suitable but check with your teenager's DofE Leader before booking. The course is designed with DofE Skills in mind and can be completed in 13 weeks. Check the DofE page for more information and contact us if you have any other questions!
Yes, it will! Again, this is a very common fear, and this course will help them with kitchen organisation, cleanliness, and how to manage raw ingredients to keep safe along with how to test when meat is cooked properly to avoid food poisoning.
This online course has been designed with SEND learners in mind. Instead of feeling pressured by the environment of "offline" cooking, we found that clearly structured visual recipes offer a better learning environment for SEND students, specifically those who benefit from a calm, flexible approach to learning. There is a lot that can be freely adapted on this course, as our goal has always been to help every learner build lifelong confidence in themselves and their cooking skills.

Delicious, Home-cooked Meals Made Simple for SEND Students
These recipes have been tried and tested for over 4 years. The recipes work, and the students (and parents) really enjoy them!
I'm really proud of my experience with many SEND students, which has given me the tools to support you all.

My purpose in life is to teach adults (young and old) to cook and I love it!
My students learn, using professional chef skills, how to cook amazing recipes that are simple, fun and rewarding.
I'm a specialist teacher because I have an extraordinary background and I focus on teaching with nutrient-dense ingredients for great health.
In 2022 I qualified as a nutrition therapist because I know how powerful food is and I want to be in the best health myself and to pass that on to my students. I can now be sure that I am offering the best tuition, providing recipes that are not only delicious but are nutrient-focussed.
This course is ideal for SEND students (young or old), including the following:
Holiday Cooking: for kids
Home Schooling: for parents and children
Off to Uni or Leaving Home: for young adults
Parents: learn to cook fresh food for your family
Want to Feel Healthier? : Learn how to avoid highly processed food
Fast Fresh Food: Learn how cooking at home can be faster than a takeaway
It's also perfect for teenagers doing the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) award in the UK and abroad (including Australia) as it is designed to run over 3 months or you can add my other courses together for a 6 or 12 month course.

As soon as you book your course you can get going, with instant access to the recipes and videos. After you have finished you will have access to the videos for life.
All courses are suitable for all diets. Just let me know when you fill in your registration form and I will make sure you have the appropriate recipes to suit your needs. I am a specialist teacher in gluten and dairy-free diets.
I strongly recommend purchasing an A4 display folder to put the recipes in, you can create your own personal cookbook of favourite recipes with the wonderful photos of your own cooking. This will be a book to treasure for life.
